Mixing traditional Italian cuisine with tried-n-true Texas fare could prove to be more disastrous than Amy Winehouse versus the childproof pill bottle, but it worked out just right for the new Café Italia location in North Oak Cliff, just across Davis from the Bishop Arts District.
For carb purists, there’s faves like Spaghetti and Meatballs ($14.95), Chicken Picatta ($15.50) or Lasagne Bolognese ($14.95). For the more adventurous, there’s Chicken-Fried Pork Tenderloin topped with Tabasco Sausage Cream ($14.95), Collard Green Agnoiotti served on slow-cooked, black-eyed peas ($15.95) or the Taglietelle Otto Formaggio al Tartufo ($14.50). We’re not sure what that one is either, but the menu claims it’s “so good it will make you want to want to slap your mama.”
To make menu browsing a breeze, a helpful lil’ Texas flag directs your eyes to the fusion features. Flag it if it tastes good, right.
Note: Gay List Daily regrets using the term “flag it” and plans to do a series of PSA apologies. We don’t condone mama slapping either, no matter how delicious your meal is.
