Grab a boy, grab a girl. Grab a donkey for all we care (we never judge). Head out on the town this week for a chance to win money, and plenty more chances to spend it.
Katy Trail 5K
Tonight, May 15, 6:30 p.m.
Run, Forrest! Run! (Ah, we just love dusting off old jokes from 1994). Bring your pet, bring your friends and bring your well-stretched quads to Reverchon Park for the start of the Katy Trail 5K run. The run ends with a kick-ass party, complete with bad-for-you food and beer to balance out all that healthy living you just did during the previous hour (or three). If you haven’t registered yet, it’s not too late. Same-day registration takes place at the park 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. today.
$35 Registration fee (at the event)

Sue Ellen’s Prom 2008
Friday, May 16, 9:00 p.m.
Prom season is almost over, so you don’t have too many more opportunities to wear that long formal gown (guys) or dashing tuxedo (ladies). There won’t be a punch bowl to spike, but with four bars inside the club, getting your date to third base shouldn’t be too difficult.
$3 Cover after 8:00 p.m.,
$6 Cover after 10:00 p.m.
3014 Throckmorton, Dallas
Saturday, May 17, 5:00 p.m. (doors open); 6:00 p.m. (games begin)
Get out your best Ann Coulter costume and polish off the Dick Cheney bald cap. It’s time for Super Villain Gaybingo! There’s new pricing in place, but the good news is that you now get cards for all 15 games, so you have more chances to win big money and pay off your bar tab. Or at least part of it.
The Rose Room (inside S4)
3911 Cedar Springs Road, Dallas
Wednesday, May 21, 7:00 p.m.
The ultra-cool orchestra practically defies description with its blend of lush vocals, world beats and hip arrangements. Gay founder Thomas Lauderdale brings a unique retro vibe with a modern twist to nearly every song the group performs. And lead singer China Forbes (dubbed by the group as their “diva next door”) sings the way rich, dark chocolate tastes – velvety, creamy and addictive. This is a must-see live concert. Otherwise, download their albums and hope for next year.
Tickets: $25 – $45
