Starbucks, we need to talk. You should probably sit down for this.
We’re breaking up with you.
Listen, we had a great run. The highs were so high. But you stopped paying attention. You got complacent and bloated, and you took us for granted.
There’s no easy way to say this. We’ve met a new coffeehouse, Crooked Tree Coffee.
Mmmkay, stop crying. You knew this was coming. We spent too many nights sitting in your overly-designed rooms with your velour chairs looking at lame ironic art on the walls. You have stupid names for your size options. And no, sometimes, we don’t want a pastry with our coffee, so stop asking.
Crooked Tree isn’t like that at all. It’s an old historic house remodeled into crunchy-cool hangout smack in the middle of yuppie-central Uptown. The hardwood floors creak and the doors are heavy. When’s the last time you’ve been as romantic as that?
And Crooked Tree is so, so fun. Their dedicated fan base of students nose-deep in books and urban hipsters engaged in fabulous conversation feels exciting and real. They support local artists proudly, and their coffees, sodas, vegan pastries, and sandwiches are to die for.
And Crooked Tree has live music on the weekends of some of Dallas’ greatest young indie talent. We can’t think of the last time you sang sweet nothings to us.
This isn’t just a fling. We’re in love. Real, passionate, all natural, Fair Trade, authentic love.
Hope we can be still be friends…
