At Gay List Daily, we pride ourselves on our versatility (and a bubble butt so perfect it should hang in the Smithsonian!). We’re just as at home amidst the glitterati and galas as we are eating at a greasy taqueria, which is why we have no shame in our game in admitting to perusing a comic book store from time to time.
To be fair, we wear couture thigh-high Wonder Woman boots while doing it, so it’s all very highbrow.
On top of finding a boy that made our spider senses all tingly, our latest visit also introduced us to a fabulous new super hero with whom we can so identify. Author, illustrator and all-around sass-pot Brian Andersen’s comic So Super Duper stars a hero name Psyche whose power is right up there with Aquaman’s ability to gossip with tuna: he’s empathic.
Yep, that’s it. He can feel what others are feeling. Kind of pales in comparison to Superman’s X-ray vision or Wolverine’s awesome manicure, but it makes for an extra-charming underdog.
Oh, and if the Lifetime-TV superpowers didn’t clue you in, we should also mention that Psyche is totally gay, except he doesn’t know it yet. Everyone around him does though!
Think Clay Aiken pre-baby and People Magazine cover.
While he may not have those sexy eyes that sexy eye like Cyclops from the X-Men, or that extra stretchy bulge in his tights like Mr. Fantastic from the Fantastic Four, we’re still rooting for Psyche to take down the bad guy.
In fact, we may even share our super power with him: the ability to hurl insults so vicious they make Joan Rivers sound like Mary Poppins.
