Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Tasty Privates

We don’t know about you, but as much as we love throwing dinner parties, they’re exhausting. There’s setting the table, buying the perfect wine, standing in line at eatZi’s and the intense cardio workout of pointing at what we want.

Then at home, we spend minutes upon minutes transferring everything into our own pots and pans to make it look like we channeled our inner Ina Garten. We’re not sure if it’s all that hard work or simply the lies and deception that truly wear us out.

Well, now we can still impress our guests with great cuisine, only this time they’re going to actually know it’s being prepared by eatZi’s talented chefs (unless we can convince Chef Jay to wear that naughty vampiress outfit we bought on clearance last November 1).

With eatZi’s Private Dining, their chefs come to your home and prepare everything. Yes, everything. They’ll serve it on your own dishes and use your glassware (unless you’re still drinking out of the jelly jars you collected in college).

In that case, you may want them to provide the dinnerware, too.

For dinner parties for four to 20 people, simply call eatZi’s Private Dining and set up a meeting with one of their chefs. You’ll work with him or her to design a menu based on the type of dinner you’d like to serve. All you have to do is pick a date and they’ll handle the rest, from selecting wine pairings, creating floral arrangements, preparing the food and providing servers.

They do everything except wipe everyone’s chins after each bite.

Most importantly, the food is delicious. We had the honor of experiencing private dining at the luxurious mansion of Dallas restaurateur Phil Romano, founder of eatZi’s and many other popular concepts, including our favorite faux swear-word: Fuddrucker’s. But despite the surroundings (and dining next to a wine room filled with 6,000 bottles of the good stuff), the food, service and entire experience is exactly the same as what anyone would get in their own home.

When we questioned the chefs on the pricing of the five-course meal, we were shocked and delighted to learn that the exquisite meal with a paired wine at each course clocked in at about $80 per person. We’ve spent more than that at Friday afternoon happy hour. This clearly isn’t an everyday alternative to our typical dinners of Uncrustables and Franzia, but when we want to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or early release from prison, we’d much rather have the dinner and drinks come to us.

Now if we can get the woman who does our Brazilians and the “pharmacist” who bakes those “special” brownies to make home visits like eatZi’s, this house arrest thing won’t be so bad after all.
