Southern Decadence is just around the corner and we’ve been marathon training to prepare. Of course, we mean marathon drinking, not anything involving physical activity.
Please, we’re pretty, but we’re not crazy.
Every year, we swear we’re going to skip the “gay Mardi Gras” in New Orleans, but like our One Night Stand Turned Semi-Regular Booty Call with the guy who works at Subway, we keep going back in hopes of a free sandwich and a little wiener. (And because it makes us feel just a tad bit naughty.)
Last year, we got evacuated because of some jerk name Gustav who was headed to town, so we’ve been suffering from Decadence Interruptus, a condition that can only be cured by a return visit. Damn if that city isn’t luring us back for more craziness.
Our biggest problem each year (other than running out of dollar bills for tipping the completely-legit-fully-clothed male dancers) is finding a nice, inexpensive place to stay that isn’t by the airport or two towns over. After all, we don’t plan on staying there more than 90 minutes at a time for a quick shower, costume change and five minutes of sleep.
So when the New Orleans Marriott told us about their special $89-per-night rate during the holiday weekend, we thought there must be a typo in their Twitter. But we confirmed and rather than jacking up the prices like most hotels do during big events, this one has chosen to welcome us like the cheap sluts that we are. Not only is the room rate really low, but each room also gets a $500 savings booklet good for huge discounts at restaurants and attractions.
If only there were a coupon for half-off an hour alone with the scruffy guy who runs the Lucky Dog cart at the corner of Bourbon and Canal. (We told you, the Big Easy makes us do naughty, naughty things).
$89/night rate good through October 15, 2009
