Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Hitting The High Notes

If you’re like us, when you hear the term “opera” you still think of corpulent women singing vibrato while wearing Viking helmets and gigantic breast plates. Yes, we received all our early cultural training from Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes. And when it comes to dancing, our first thoughts are of are leg warmers and Jennifer Beals getting soaked with water.

Well, prepare for something a little more sophisticated, and a whole lot more exciting.

This weekend, internationally renowned Parsons Dance Company and the lead vocalists from the Grammy-nominated rock opera group, East Village Opera Company, are joining forces for Remember Me, an original and dynamic performance experience.

The TITAS show combines contemporary dance, live and recorded rock music, and multimedia design including enriched digital lighting, special effects and projections. It’s like a laser-light show at the Cotton Bowl—without all the mullets and Coors Lights being spilled down your back.

The producers even promise that the show will have us leaping to our feet. Hmmm…maybe we’ll get to relive our favorite Flashdance moments after all.
