Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

So You Think Eye Candy Can Dance

When we first heard about Complexions, we were so excited. Another skincare line for us to sample! But no sooner did we have the cucumbers sliced and our Enya CD on “continuous loop” for our at-home spa day than we found out the name refers to something altogether different.

Thankfully, it’s even more enjoyable than the gift of flawless skin.

Complexions Contemporary Ballet is the full name of the group that has our smile lines deepening. Founded by former Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater stars, Desmond Richardson and Dwight Rhoden, Complexions is a unique dance performance experience that will forever challenge your tutu-and-bulges concept of ballet.

Seriously, these guys choreographed for So You Think You Can Dance!

Instead of simply mastering their pliés and perfecting their pirouettes, this ballet company focuses on a multicultural approach to reinventing dance through artistic and aesthetic appeal. Its mixture of methods, styles and cultures was considered groundbreaking when the group formed in 1994 and they have been innovating ever since.

Even if all of this cultural talk is gibberish to you and your level of artistic appreciation is a bit shallow, the phenomenal physiques will hold your interest…and better yet, this time you don't have to “tip” the “performers.”

Making its AT&T Performing Arts Center debut, Complexions will present a powerful show that blends ballet, contemporary dance, jazz and hip-hop all set to the music of U2 and Prince (unlike our backyard ballet beer busts accompanied by the melodies of Lady Gaga and Milli Vanilli).

The special guest star is Complexions founder Desmond Richardson. Go for no other reason than to see his killer bod and superhuman “flying” ability.

We’ll go to his Fortress of Solitude any day.
