Southwest Airlines may have just started a fare war with its $25 one-way fares, but we found an even cheaper flight out of Dallas that has food, wine and doesn’t involve getting strip-searched by security or stowing your portable electronic devices.
We’ve long been fans of Nana at the Hilton Anatole, but sometimes a multi-course dinner at a fine-dining restaurant isn’t in our newly tightened budget. But that doesn’t mean sitting at home eating potted meat and Frito’s, either. Food is a necessity we can cut back on, but we hope this recession doesn’t force us to slash our cocktail fund. Then we’d be in our own great depression.
With Friday Night Flights at Nana, every first Friday of the month is reason to celebrate with inexpensive food and drink. We wanted to give you time to make reservations and clear a little time on your schedule for next week’s event. Believe us, it’s worth it. Not only is the view one of the most spectacular in town, the price can’t be beat.
For a mere twenty bucks per person, you’ll experience a gourmet tasting of haute cuisine paired perfectly with a trio of wines. We’re not talking large portions, so no need to break out the elastic-waistband pants. This is just a great way to sample some of the innovative dishes being turned out by Executive Chef Anthony Bombaci without breaking the bank — or a button on your jeans.
Next Friday’s tasting menu features Pork Belly with Pine Nut-Garlic-Currant Sofrito paired with a Stephen Vincent 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon; Pan-roasted and Grilled Duck Breast, Mint Chocolate and Black Pepper with Obsidian Ridge 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon; followed by Regina Blu Cheese with Grana Padano Tuile (that’s a cookie!) and Cranberries accompanied by a 2007 Cannonball Cabernet Sauvignon.
Our mouths are watering already.
Reservations are highly encouraged, so get your friends together and embark on a culinary adventure. And just like on Southwest, bags fly free. So bring a change of clothes for every course and pretend you’re on a mini vacation. We promise not to stare.
