Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

London Calling

It takes balls to get away with two first names, but its something George Michael has done for decades without any argument from us. (Though his stage name is much easier on our abused tongues than his birth name, Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou.)

Besides, there aren't many aging and (still) hot openly gay icons in the world, so as long as George Michael is around, we'll follow his every step. Or his sexy butt in taut denim as he strums along to “Faith.” Come to twink of it, there is plenty we've been following regarding GM. And now, after what feels like too long, there's finally something new for us to grovel over: George Michael: Live in London.

Like every thoughtful and generous gay should, the former Wham! frontman is letting us choose whether we want to take it big or small. “How so?” you say? Well, the greatest hits concert special will be available both on DVD and on the big screen!

Since we like to enjoy George alone in the privacy of our sparkling condos, our good friends over at Fly Life Inc. sent us a disc to check out.

We had Faith (hardy, har) that the brand new live release would include our favorite songs from the icon, and like GM's chiseled jawline, there was no slack on the entire thing. “Fastlove,” “Freedom '90,” “Father Figure,” “Careless Whisper,” “Amazing,” “Jesus to a Child” and about a dozen more performances from a 2008 concert at Earls Court in London take up residence on the jam-packed DVD/Blu-Ray.

While the live music is exceptional (George Michael has consistently been one of the few artists who seem to sound better live than recorded…looking your way 85% of the modern recording industry), the special included documentary, I'd Know Him a Mile Off might make the disc a must-have for fans of the singer.

It's nice to see another side of a guy we've been following religiously since the 80s, though we're jealous that even this other side of George Michael seems to defy age better than his Restylane-filled contemporaries.

DVD: $16, Blu-Ray, $18
