The stink of George W. Bush must finally be wearing off. And it couldn’t be happening soon enough.
During the glory years of “W,” Texas was often left completely off the tour lists of the biggest acts in the world. Even Madonna finally returned just after the election in 2008, so we knew things were looking up. Now, another gay favorite is taking on Texas.
Miss Coco Peru (occasionally seen in public as Clinton Leupp) is a star of stage and screen that must be experienced in person to truly appreciate her talent. With her That Girl hair, razor-sharp wit and a complete disregard for political correctness, her show is stock-up-on-the-Flomax hilarious.
Personally, we’ve loved her ever since Trick and Girls Will Be Girls. She’s a much bigger part of GWBG, so that’s the best one to add to your Netflix queue if you want to get a taste of Coco before the show.
Her tour, Miss Coco Peru Takes on Texas starts in Austin, before heading to Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. So quite feasibly, you could catch a few Southwest flights and follow her around the Lone Star State. Then by Sunday, if she hasn’t put out a restraining order against you, she might just invite you backstage for a meet-and-greet. Or back to her hotel for a meat-in-meat.
But if you want a guarantee to meet the chanteuse, we suggest getting VIP tickets. In fact, the promoters told us that the first 25 people who purchase VIP tickets will get a limited edition tour poster to be autographed after the show. Commemorative t-shirts are also going to be available. (Coco’s got to pay those duct-tape invoices somehow!)
So tell all your friends around the state that you’ll unfriend them on Facebook if they don’t go to her show. As for us, we’ll see you all in Dallas this Friday at S4.
And if George W. tries to sneak in, make sure to give him a big wet kiss. Or throw a shoe at him. Wherever the moment takes you.
