Steak Your Claim

It’s amazing we haven’t grown a second stomach chamber. We eat so much beef in our quest to find you the best restaurants in town that not only have we started to look like cows, we’re beginning to find udders disturbingly sexy.

Needless to say, we’ve grown pretty picky when it comes to our meat.

So while attending an art function at Tre Amici Prime Steakhouse and Seafood (formerly Rick Stein’s), we expected just another average slab of beef from yet another steakhouse on the Tollway. But to our sheer delight, what came out from the kitchen was simply divine bovine.

The expertly seared, perfectly cooked USDA Prime Filet easily ranks in the Top Five Steaks we’ve ever eaten. And that’s saying a lot. Typically served with asparagus (we opted for green beans for the sake of being difficult) and mashed potatoes, it’s a gorgeous feast for the senses. (Yes, we touched it and listened to it sizzle. Sue us.)

Our dining partner ordered the Sea Bass, which arrived topped with Mussels, Italian Sausage and a Velvet Saffron Tomato Broth.

It was so delicious, he stuck his face in the bowl and licked it, so let us know if you want to be our new dinner date. He’s no longer allowed at Tre Amici.

The salads that started our meal (look, we’re doing flashbacks just like Lost!) were simple, yet filled with unusual touches that made them special. But who wants to hear about lettuce when we’ve got dessert to write about?

For us, chocolate is always King of the Final Course. But on this visit, we threw caution to the graham cracker and ordered the Lemoncello Cheesecake served atop a Blood Orange Sauce. (And great, now we’re not welcome back for licking this plate clean, as well).

The only thing that made us sad about finishing this delicious concoction was that we didn’t have room to try their Valentine’s Week specialty: Red Velvet Cheesecake.

We may just have to break out the disguise kit and head back to Tre Amici for another round. It’ll be busy. Surely they won’t know it’s us.
