Gay ski events are a diva a dozen, but an event that focuses on stiffer boards and caters to the gay community? That’s right up our alley.
As one of the final events of the season (technically occurring in spring, but who’s counting?), OutBoard brings out our inner, edgier ice queens with an event devoted to snowboarding.
Sure, that hot (as in rich, rich, rich) ginge Shaun White may have intimidated us all back on to figure skates after he tackled the powder last month with more ferocity than Lindsay Lohan, but there’s still something inherent about jumping on a big, wide piece of freshly-waxed wood that sounds pretty hot.
As extra incentive, Logo’s TripOut Gay Travel branded the event the “most laid back” (as in the position we spent most of last year’s OutBoard exploring), which is in line with the chill-dude snowboarder attitude we easily grovel over.
Aside from hitting the pipes (and for the skiers who are also welcome at OutBoard, the slopes), as any gay event perched atop fresh powder, OutBoard includes other notable diversions such as daily breakfasts, parties (including a big-budget closing party at Breckenridge’s River Walk Center), demented drag shows, and – our favorite – pool/hot tub parties affectionately coined “Boy Soup.”
After all, what’s better after a long day spent in the snow of early-spring Breckenridge than some yummy Boy Soup? It’s good for the homo soul!
