Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Ladies & Gentlemen, Andrew Lloyd Sondheim!

There’s Off Broadway. Off-Off Broadway. And now something so far off Broadway it’s in a completely different time zone. (Make your dinner reservations accordingly.)

Off Broadway! is the Turtle Creek Chorale’s dramatic 30th anniversary season finale. And like any good final act, it’s going to be filled with dramatic twists, shocking deaths, a marriage or two and the birth of quadruplets. (Oh wait, that was the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy, sorry).

But there will be time travel – all the way back to the days the Great White Way’s biggest musical sensations. From Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Sondheim to Kander and Ebb, the men’s chorus will sing (and dance!) their hearts out with songs like Big Spender, Impossible Dream and numbers from A Chorus Line and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

(We’re hoping for the Aggie football team’s locker room song because you ain’t seen nothin’ ‘til you’ve seen Artistic Director Jonathan Palant dancing around in nothing but shoulder pads and a smile.)

This will be TCC’s first appearance at the AT&T Performing Arts Center Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre, too, so the ending of the season also marks a new beginning. Now if there’s a plane crash, a large-scale volcanic eruption and the revelation of three chorus members who were switched at birth, we’ve got ourselves one hell of a season finale!
