It’s not all about disco balls and glow sticks. Sometimes, believe it or not, we just want to relax and enjoy great food, drinks and conversation while listening to a piano player or sultry singer softly lulling us into a post-work trance. It’s downright therapeutic—and far less expensive than our psychiatrist.
Call us old, or old-fashioned, but until you’ve been to the recently remodeled Library Bar at the Warwick Melrose, don’t judge. The drinks are fab, the vibe is fun and it’s typically a packed house, which creates a great energy. This is the place to wine and dine anyone you’re trying to impress to land that big account, or land in bed. Or both!
Happy Hour is our time of choice and every weekday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., they’ve got drink specials that rival anything those cheap, one-toothed cocktail waitress bars can serve up. Domestic beers are just $3, house wines are $5, well drinks are $5, and all Chef’s Choice appetizers are half price. And the food comes from the Landmark Restaurant, so we’re not talking pretzels and day-old popcorn.
Classic cocktails are expertly made here, from icy-cold Martinis to stout Old Fashioneds, it’s like taking a step back in time when bartenders actually took the time to handcraft your drink with skill and love. And a heavy pour.
If you prefer wine, then hit the Library on Tuesdays when a flight of three wine samples is just $10. Pick from 28 different by-the-glass wines (including Champagne!) and create your own custom flight, or let the sommelier give you his expert recommendations. Then if you find one you really love, you’re in luck because all bottles are 50% off on Tuesdays, too.
But no matter what you choose to drink or when you decide to go, we’re confident the ambience will be a nice change of pace. Your disco stick needs to venture out from time to time. And then if you absolutely must get your fill of half-naked boys swinging from stripper poles, you’re only a block away from the gay bars. We’re sure they’ll save a spot for you.
