Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Guerillas In Our Midst

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. But in some cases, it makes the liver more sober.

It’s been a few months since the last Guerilla Gay Bar takeover, and we’re so ready for them to come back. We’ve been sitting at home sipping instant Nestea waiting for a chance to booze it up among the heteros.

If you’re not familiar with Guerilla Gay Bar, keep reading. If you’re a regular, just skip the next paragraph and thank us for the 20 seconds we added to your life.

GGB, as its known in the acronym world, is an organization that stages takeovers of straight bars in neighborhoods all over Dallas. There’s always a theme (and we loves us a theme) and it’s always fun to watch the looks of horror on the sorority girls’ faces as the gays descend upon their safe havens. After all, their straight boyfriends often end up being taken over by the end of the night. And that makes for an awkward ride back to the frat house.

This month, the return of GGB is “Back to School” and will take place tomorrow night at Lotus on McKinney Avenue. Everyone is encouraged to wear T-shirts from their favorite University, High School, or Academy of Advanced Colonic Arts. Whisper “back to school” at the front door and get a ticket for a free drink. Whisper “back to my house” inside and get a ticket for either a great time or waking up in a bathtub of ice with your kidney removed (we can’t be responsible for either).

So join us tomorrow, but study hard tonight. There will be a test.
