Back in the ’80s (and for a brief resurgence a couple years ago) it was cool to have your collars popped up in some sort of free-form expression of style. But other than that (or you’re Dracula), it’s really bad to have an unruly collar.
The collar stays that come with shirts are typically plastic and come back from the dry cleaner completely abused or MIA altogether. We’ve bought replacement ones at department stores, but if your collar’s already gotten a taste of freedom, there’s not much you can do to stop it from doing whatever the hell it wants.
