We haven’t been this excited about an umbrella since Gwyneth Paltrow’s much talked about performance on Glee. In fact, it’s almost enough to cure us of our crippling phobia of Mary Poppins’ parrot-faced umbrella handle that has haunted our dreams since childhood. Combine that with our morbid fear of the Child Catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and we were pretty effed up. Oddly, Dick Van Dyke is the common thread. Hmmmm….
But back to this amazing umbrella, called appropriately enough, the Globrella (a name strikingly similar to Globella, the geography-loving drag queen we saw in SoHo last weekend). This elegant, unassuming black umbrella has a secret up its shaft. Instead of a plain, ordinary, boring silver stick, this one is filled with LED lights that change colors! It’s like a little Vegas in the palm of your hand!
The glowing stick is especially impressive at night. Or the next time you find yourself at one of those pitch-black “Dining in the Dark” restaurants. (Sorry, we just have to see what we’re eating.)
Quite frankly, we think the Globrella is the greatest update of the umbrella since our mom’s wonderful, cone-of-silence-style clear dome that kept her beauty-shop bouffant from frizzing to hell.
And hopefully Globrella (we just love saying that name!) will keep this from ever becoming popular. Or this. That’s not the kind of attention we want to draw to ourselves.
Operates on 3 AAA Batteries (not included, of course)
