We can’t think of a better Sunday than one in which we enjoy a leisurely brunch, a few Mimosas, a little shopping and perhaps the latest movie. It’s all our favorite things crammed into one relaxing afternoon. But why drive all over town to do all of those things when you can park once at NorthPark Center and do it all at one location?
That do-it-all attitude is what led us to Cibus (pronounced CHEE-boos), one of Alberto Lombardi’s many great Dallas restaurants. Like his other hot spots, this one features a variety of selections with an Italian flair, including recent daily specials featuring frittatas and breakfast calzones.
The regular brunch menu focuses heavily on traditional fare like Eggs Benedict, omelets, buttermilk pancakes, and vanilla French toast. Nothing is too crazy, which can be ultra-comforting after a long week. But everything here is executed to perfection, so even though it may sound simple and straightforward, nearly every dish offers just enough of a twist to make it spectacular.
Our favorite dish, hands-down, is the Cibus Benedict, which is easily the most off-the-beaten-egg. It features two poached eggs (perfectly cooked with a lightly runny center and fluffy whites) and lump crabmeat atop grilled polenta cakes, all topped with a delectable creamy parmesan sauce. A little sautéed spinach rounds out the dish for something decadent, yet light.
And of course, it wouldn’t be brunch for us without a juicy Mimosa or seven. Here, they’re bottomless for just $7.50 with an entrée purchase. Yeah, that’s the way we like it.
So after a couple leisurely hours over food and breakfast cocktails, we’re primed for an afternoon of shopping and movie watching. It’s a great Sunday ritual that is the perfect way to recharge for a stressful week of fine dining, massages and open-bar, red-carpet galas. It’s a tough job, but we do it all for you.
