We swore we were going to leave the country when the Super Bowl came to Dallas. We were afraid of the overwhelming traffic, lack of reservations at our favorite restaurants, and overcrowded bushes at White Rock Lake. Then we started hearing about the parties. Prince wanted us at his. Pamela Anderson begged us to co-chair hers. Even President Obama asked if we’d take Michelle out to the Round-Up Saloon for a little two-stepping if they ended up coming to town.
But we can’t be everywhere at once and there’s so much to do for the next several days, whether you’re a football fan or not (shocker, we’re not), that we’re glad we actually stuck around for the big game. Even if that means sitting at home in our slippers watching Steel Magnolias during the actual game. (By the way, we’re only charging $100 per person to sit in our living room and watch the movie with us.)
Without further ado, here are three events where you’ll find us prior to Super Bowl Sunday. We’d love it if you join us at one or all!
XLV Party at the Cotton Bowl
Thursday, February 3, 2011
7:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.
If you haven’t already heard, The Village People, Cazwell, Lady Bunny and many more artists are taking over the Cotton Bowl next Thursday for a huge gay party. (Read our original coverage here.) VIP Tickets get you free drinks and a private area to celebrate. And we’ve got a special code (SASSY) to purchase VIP tickets for $50 off, or just $109 (plus taxes and fees). VIP ticket prices jump to $300 the day of show, so get them today for the best price.
We’ve also got four General Admission tickets to give away (two pairs of two), so if you want ‘em, you know the drill. Fill out the Contact Us form with name, e-mail and valid phone number by 11:59 p.m. tonight, Friday, January 28, 2011 and we’ll notify you on Monday if you’re a winner. They’re not VIP, but VI-FREE is just as good!

Off The Field: NFL Players’ Wives Association Banquet and Fashion Show
Friday, February 4, 2011
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Want to sip champagne with the football players’ wives and catch a hot fashion show from the winner of Texas’ Next Top Designer, Abi Ferrin? Then call in sick next Friday and join us at the Fairmont Hotel. The highlight of the event is a silent auction, which will feature a $1.4 million, 6.32 carat pink diamond (pictured above). We think it would compliment our Pop Swatch beautifully. Proceeds from the event benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. A fashion show brunch is the most glamorous way to spend a Friday morning we can think of, so count us in!

Cedar Springs Super Street Party
Saturday, February 5, 2011
7:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m.
It’s been a while since Halloween, so we’re stoked for another outdoor event in the gayborhood. This street party, sponsored by the Cedar Springs Merchants Association, will feature live entertainment, food vendors and tons of Bud Light (they’re a sponsor!). Cedar Springs will be closed to vehicular traffic between Throckmorton and Reagan, with a main stage and plenty of room to mix and mingle (or as we like to call it, scrimmage!). The event is FREE, so what better way to spend Super Bowl Eve?
