Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Friday’s Forecast: Purple Rain

It’s the battle of the 1980s icons today on Gay List Daily! First, in our national edition we announced the re-mastered re-release of George Michael’s Faith, and now we’re here to tell you about one of the biggest events of the weekend featuring none other than Prince. Next to some sportsy hullabaloo at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, this is the hottest ticket in town.

Because really, unless you’re offering a free beer and a backstage pass to the locker room, we couldn’t care less about football. Surprisingly, though, we’re rather jazzed about all the big parties and A-list celebrities that will be out and about all over town. Our psychic’s already told us how it’s all gonna go down.

When we pull up to the Shell station, right there next to us will be Martha Stewart, (pumping Premium Unleaded, of course) into her Winnebago, ready to hit the road and do a little progressive tailgating. Ooh, and there’s Beyoncé waiting on the cross-town bus. Perhaps we’ll give her a ride. Hop on into our Pussy Wagon, baby! Then later, in the produce aisle at Aldi, we’ll accidentally drop our fuzzy kiwis into the hands of gay Olympic diver Matthew Mitcham, who will then invite us over to his penthouse hotel suite for a midnight swim. We can’t wait, Matty!

Unfortunately, our psychic tends to have about a 50/50 success rate with her visions so we’re not leaving anything to chance. That’s why we’re making sure we get up-close-and-personal with at least one mega celebrity, so the one event we’ve chosen to attend this week is actually called theEvent. We’ve been saving up for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to party like it’s the last year of the ’90s, so why not make sure the one and only Prince is actually going to be a part of the festivities?

This Friday, at the Hotel InterContinental Dallas (note, this is a new venue if you’ve already got tickets), Prince will join the lovely Erykah Badu and DJ BMW for an evening of fabulous music, food, drinks and celebrity-watching.

Tickets aren’t cheap, but if you want to make a real impression this Valentine’s Day, skip the chocolate hearts and buy your sweetie a ticket to theEvent. Besides, a portion of your purchase is tax deductible and proceeds benefit the Goss-Michael Foundation, so that’s a perk, too. But really, the chance to be in a small venue with Prince is what’s motivating us to get out of bed this week.

Well, that and the fact that our psychic warned us that Beyoncé was going to snap and set our house on fire.

Tickets: $1,500
