Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Farm to Cable

It’s a special skill that homosexuals possess to be able to transform something ordinary into something flamboyantly gay. (Just look what we did with Clay Aiken.)

To be sure, there aren’t two better examples of men at the peak of their queer wizardry than Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Dr. Brent Ridge. The owner/operators of the now-world-famous Beekman Farm in upstate New York are back in the llama saddle again for a second season of their unscripted TV series, The Fabulous Beekman Boys.

Our favorite moment doesn’t happen until the second episode, but it illustrates our hypothesis perfectly. During a road trip to pick up four tiny black lambs, Brent decks out the back of a mini van with a baby gate and real grass to make the ride more enjoyable for the little woolballs. The whole setup is so freakin’ gay adorable, it makes us want to get a few sheep for our sweater animal collection at home. And Josh smuggling the lambs into a PET-friendly hotel is delightfully harebrained. Lucy would be proud.

But it’s all just another made-for-TV day with the Beekman Boys, who make everything from soap making (soft skin for life!) to pig slaughtering (delicious BLTs for life!) look remarkably fab and glam.

After all, with their own successful product line and a cute little retail boutique in charming Sharon Springs, a best-selling memoir about life on the farm and the occasional visit from Martha Stewart, what’s not to love about living more simply?

We’re still guessing it’s the smell of poo.
