Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Divas In Training

Sad as it is to actually put in print, Cher and Madonna aren’t going to live forever. And we gays need to know where our next big divas are coming from. Sure, Lady Gaga is the heir apparent, but we need backups. White Party 2047 isn’t going to book itself.

With Jennifer Hudson’s album release last week and Britney’s today, we think we have two very viable candidates.

Hudson’s I Remember Me is a sultry mix of soulful songs and high notes that seem to go on for hours. Girl. Can. Sing. Filled with radio-friendly hits like the infectious (and grammatically incorrect) Where You At, this record is definitely all about showcasing this D.I.T.’s voice. And she’s got a big enough one to rock any house.

In Femme Fatale, Britney returns to pre-tabloid-meltdown glory with an upbeat power album filled with high-energy anthems that make us want to leave the office and find a Happy Hour Dance-Off. Sure, this one’s pretty highly produced, but that doesn’t make it any less enjoyable. It’s exactly what a good Britney Spears album should be: bubbly, girly and overflowing with ready-made chart toppers.

So, for completely different reasons, we love both these new albums. We need something good to accompany us in a nice bubble bath, but then something else to get our pool parties off to a rockin’ start. We’ll leave it up to you to decide which is which.
