Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Musto Gracias

The world has many things to fear. Palins, bioterrorism, day-long prayer/hate extravaganzas. But for celebrities, there’s something even scarier: being on the receiving end of gossip columnist extraordinaire Michael Musto’s razor-sharp wit. Since Day One, the Village Voice writer has called it exactly like he sees it.

And he sees it hilariously.

His latest book, Fork on the Left, Knife in the Back, is a veritable pop-culture time capsule. A collection of his very gayest columns (which is a small sliding scale), it features some of his best interviews, original essays and personal commentary on the crazy star-studded world around him.

Sure, it’s a reprinting of columns and stories he’s already written, but we think that’s entirely genius. It’s like the Cliffs Notes version of two decades worth of witty observations.

Hell, it’s even inspired us to put out our own Time-Life series of books spanning the past four years of Gay List Daily. Volumes One through Six: Sexual Innuendo. Volume Seven: Celine Dion Jokes. Volume Eight: How We Killed Osama.

From the moment we started reading Michael’s book, we found ourselves laughing out loud. A lot. So much so, in fact, that we dropped our iPad on some poor guy’s back during our Doggie Style Anonymous meeting last week. (Um, yeah, sorry. That Musto’s gonna leave a bruise.)

FOTLKITB is a testament to what a genius writer he really is because columns filled with timely information dating back to the ’90s is as relevant, insightful and funny today as it was back then (at least that’s what our sugardaddy tells us).

The book doesn’t come out until September 1 in brick-and-mortar bookstores (all three that are left nationwide), but Fork on the Left, Knife in the Back is already available on Amazon.com. It truly must go on your wish list because we promise it’ll be the funniest thing you read all summer.

Well, at least until Michael writes his next story tomorrow.
