Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Merry Effen Christmas

Last night we had an extremely vivid dream in which we were visited by three spirits.

Vodka, rum and gin.

Damn, that was a good dream.

In this season of pumpkin this, gingerbread latte that and eggnog frappawhatzit, we quickly get burned out on cliché holiday flavors. Perhaps that’s because year-round we prefer our beverages to be more light and refreshing than laden with cream and sugar.

So our holiday cocktail of choice this year is made with something that most would consider a summer drink. But not us. We think it’s just as gay and Christmassy as Santa in a bear bar.

It’s Effen Cucumber Vodka (shown above with gay fashion designer Derek Lam). And we’ve found a cocktail recipe that’s green as holly and minty as a candy cane. But it’s not a blatantly obvious holiday martini. It’s sophisticated. (Like an angel tree topper without any cleavage.)

It’s called the Effen Cucumber Elegant (recipe follows). It’s refreshing, beautiful, and has just the right amount of holiday cheer.

God bless us, every Effen one.
