Someone over at Bravo thought it would be a great idea to give Kathy Griffin an hour each week to talk about whatever the hell she wants.
We want to buy that person a pony.
Sure, we love her standup specials. My Life on the D-List is must-see television. And New Year’s Eve wouldn’t be complete without her outrageous attempts to fluster old White Lightning himself, Mr. Anderson Cooper.
Just don’t expect Cooper to show up at her new gig. Or anyone famous, for that matter.
At least that’s the plan when Kathy premieres tonight.
Instead of pandering to celebrities promoting their latest films, kitchen gadgets, dog perfumes or sex tapes, she’s gathering her wine-chugging mom and a few friends to simply dish the dirt on the week’s biggest pop culture topics.
Like her live standup act, no celebrity is safe and fodder can be as current as the morning’s headlines, something that’s so often missing from her taped comedy shows.
It’ll be interesting to see how this admittedly free-form show takes shape in coming weeks, but with Griffin at the helm, we’re sure it’s about to be our new favorite TV show.
Because Betty White’s Off Their Rockers is just too painful for words.
Kathy
