There may or may not be bacon and helium shortages in our very near future, but what happens when there’s a worldwide dearth of nuns?
Well, besides the obvious decline in ruler sales, crotchless panties and front row tickets to Sister Act: The Musical, it could mean the end of an once popular profession.
That’s just one of the driving forces in the new comedy, Ain’t This Some Sh*t! A Conservative Right-wing Guide To Over-simplifying the Complexities of the Female Body and Extolling the Virtues of Jesus’ Favorite Southern Fried Treat.
In this play from the delightfully twisted mind of Jonathan Norton, the Reverend Mother (played by Pedro Perez) agrees to recruit new nuns for Our Lady of Perpetual Eleganza via a reality TV competition entitled Break The Habit.
With that as the backdrop, the play explores concepts of identity and self esteem – occasionally set to dance music and peppered with pop culture references aplenty.
So grab your friends and head to Oak Cliff for a show about nuns and chicken sandwiches.
With all the crucifixin’s.
