Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Home Invasion

If you’re the type who goes through your host’s medicine cabinet at a party, then home tours were made just for you.

For a small fee, you get to play a combination of voyeur, home invader and design critic. Gorgeous houses are laid out for your approval and no matter how fabulous your own space is, you’re going to find something to envy. Guaranteed.

One of our favorite tours is the Lakewood Home Festival, happening this weekend. The tour features six homes, but Friday night’s candlelight tour includes a special one-night only home. Or join on Saturday and Sunday for a special tour of a historic middle school in the neighborhood.

There are gay-owned homes, too – including the modern farmhouse pictured above by architect and long-time Gay Lister Eddie Maestri – so you know you’re going to really see some stunning architecture and interior design. (Just resist the temptation to open the drawers on the nightstands.)

VIP tickets are worth the extra $10 because you get a spot on a tour bus, so no searching for parking at each stop. And you get to move to the front of the line at every house on the route.

Because if there’s one thing gays love more than judging other people’s homes, it’s getting special treatment.
