Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Merry Gentlemen

Quick! Name the first Christmas animal that comes to mind.

If you said reindeer, many people would declare you correct. Perhaps even camels or donkeys if you’re a nativity fanatic.

But the answer we’re looking for is turtle.

That’s because for more than 30 years the holidays in Dallas have been celebrated in perfect harmony thanks to the vocal prowess of the Turtle Creek Chorale men’s chorus.

Tonight, you can catch the final performance of their traditional concert, Comfort & Joy, at the Meyerson. The show features classic carols including “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and that song that we can never get out of our heads, “O Magnum Mysterium.” (And we just learned after all these years that the song is not about an extra-large condom that appeared out of nowhere.)

Comfort & Joy is the concert that’s safe to bring your conservative grandmother to.

Then later in the month, the TCC presents Naughty & Nice: A Very Turtle Christmas featuring hilarious Liza Minnelli impersonator B.J. Cleveland in a show modeled after vintage holiday specials. Other special guests making appearances include Carol Channing and Charles Nelson Reilly (or very close facsimiles!).

Because things will get just a tad bit naughty, this is the perfect show for your drunken aunt.

No matter which show you select (hint: you’ll want to see both and we’re giving away free tickets, too), there’s nothing better than a bunch of handsome men in Santa hats to get us in the mood.

Oh, and in the holiday spirit, too.
