Listening to the late, great Julia Child as she described exquisite French cooking techniques on her television show was almost like listening to beautiful music. Her voice was so melodic and entertaining, it’s no stretch to imagine this larger-than-life personality belting out notes that only an opera singer could achieve.
Well, now’s your chance to see just that. And best of all, it’s free.
On Saturday, February 9, the Dallas Opera presents Mezzo-Soprano Susan Nicely in Lee Hoiby’s BON APPÉTIT!, a one-act operetta based on two episodes from her popular show where she created a fabulous chocolate cake.
The show’s hilarious and also a magnificent way to see opera in a whole new way—from inside a real kitchen. The show will be presented live at the Dallas Farmers Market Demonstration Kitchen during two daytime performances. The only trick (and the reason we’re writing about this so early), you have to RSVP to get your free seat. As in ASAP.
And if you’re lucky, you’ll get to lick the frosting.
BON APPÉTIT!
