We’ve made it no secret that we loathe TOMS Shoes, despite the company’s generous donations to children in need. For that, we applaud. But as a fashion accessory, there is nothing more cringe-worthy than a guy in TOMS. OK, maybe Crocs. Or Jesus sandals with socks.
What we do understand is a person’s innate desire to be comfortable. We don’t begrudge that, but if it can be achieved with some fashion sense, all the better.
That’s why we dig San Francisco-based Blu Kicks so much.
Based on the classic 1960s boat shoe, they’ve got just enough structure to keep them from looking cheesy and designs that make them truly hip. Especially for a little fun in the sun this spring and summer. What could be better than wearing these on the beach, at the pool or on a big gay boat ride?
Featuring non-slip soles and canvas construction, It’s ok to get them wet because they can quickly be dried in the sun or your dryer.
They run a half size big, so keep that in mind when ordering. Because shoes that are too big, well, that’s another one of our pet peeves.
Imagine that.
