Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

A Life-Saving Prick

One cruise through gay dating sites or a quick look at gay porn — which we do only on occasion and only for research for our thesis (pay no attention to the fact that we’re not in grad school) — and it’s clear: Barebacking is having a renaissance. It’s as if people think HIV has been eradicated.

But the simple truth is, it has not. In fact, infection rates are even increasing in some demographic groups.

So it’s not only important to play safe, but also know your status.

The Needle Prick Project was created by Tyler Curry (above), who also authors a regular editorial column in The Advocate about the movement. NPP is dedicated to fighting HIV stigma, promoting awareness, increasing testing and stimulating conversation about HIV.

And this Friday, you have the opportunity to learn more about NPP from Tyler himself, drink cocktails for a great cause and listen to the delightful Anton Shaw perform. From 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Alexandre’s, ALL proceeds from the three-hour event go directly to NPP. It’s that kind of generosity that shows how supportive our community can be.

That means the more expensive your fancy martini, the more good you’re doing. Of course, you can donate cash or purchase NPP merchandise for even greater benefit.

It’s gonna be prickin’ awesome.
