You know those people who enjoy walking into a restaurant, looking at the menu and then basically coming up with their own menu items? Yeah, that’s us. We’re those people.
But sometimes, diners can come up with pretty darn good options. (Though we still don’t understand why Jack in the Box refuses to make our signature bacon cheeseburger with Super Tacos as the buns.)
So for years at the sushi utopia better known as Shinsei, customers have been making special requests for sushi their own special way. Except now, owners Lynae Fearing and Tracy Rathbun have decided to take these secret, off-the-menu items and make them available to everyone.
Now you can feast on a dozen delectable new sushi options created by the master himself, Shuji “Elvis” Sugawara. Try the Enrique Roll with shrimp tempura, avocado, eel, habanero mayo and eel sauce wrapped in cucumber.
Then move on to a Healthier Kendall Roll features poached shrimp, avocado big eye tuna, avocado and jalapeño.
Round out your order with an Ashbey Roll (above) is a great twist on a spicy tuna roll by adding baked jumbo lump crab in habanero mayo.
You can even order live sea urchin if the mood strikes you.
And as luck would have it, there’s a Jack in the Box a block away. Because sea urchin and chili-cheese curly fries is mind-blowingly delicious.
