Introducing our favorite new 3500-pound fashion accessory: The 2014 Lexus IS. Because to us cars are all about comfort and style, not what’s under the hood. And few are as stylish and sexy as this next-generation sport sedan.
We recently spent some quality time with the car, taking it to the open road, cruising around town and pushing its limits on a racetrack — quite possibly the butchest thing we’ve done since that one time we changed our own flat tire (#traumatic).
The supremely comfortable ride has power to spare thanks to a performance-minded V6 engine, meaning that we can finally win a drag race that doesn’t involve wigs, makeup or compression panty hose.
Of course, we’re most turned on by the abundance of luxury amenities. The cockpit is loaded with technology and a joystick control operates many functions, including audio and navigation within a 7-inch VGA screen in the dash. Voice recognition makes things even easier.
Blind spot alerts in the rearview mirrors add peace of mind to highway driving. And HD radio, integrated SiriusXM Satellite Radio (with free 90-day subscription), and dual USB plugs make it easy to get our music from multiple sources. There’s even Bluetooth audio streaming.
Because we realize that some of our readers are gear heads, we’re not going to completely skip the technical stuff. So we’re proud to report that the IS 250 model boasts Torque of 185 lb.-ft. @ 4,800 rpm, as well as a 3.27-inch bore x a 3.03-inch stroke. We prefer an eight-inch stroke, but who are we to complain.
Plus, the fact that Lexus consistently ranks a perfect 100 on the HRC Buy4Equality guide, we can rest easy knowing that we’re supporting a corporation that supports us right back.
