Hell’s Belles

Quick, find a friend with TV Guide Network, one of the few remaining places to catch reruns of Designing Women. Other than a dusty VHS collection in Paul J. Williams’ basement.

It’ll all be worth the extra homework prior to catching the latest drag comedy from Uptown Players, Re-Designing Women.

Once again, an all-male cast turns a popular women-centric sitcom into raucous comedy gold. They’ve done Facts of Life and Golden Girls, so we’re giddy with anticipation over their skewed look at the Atlanta’s Sugarbaker Design Firm and the crazy women working there.

As with any situation comedy, it all starts with a zany scheme. This time, ex-beauty queen Suzanne pitches a reality show to Bravo TV about the design firm in order to keep the business afloat during tough economic times. Of course, producers get way more than they bargained for.

Written by Jamie Morris, the unauthorized parody promises to be another hit perfectly suited for the nonstop happy hour vibe of the Rose Room at S4.

Because after enough vodka sodas, taking home a Delta Burke look-alike would be a huge step up for us.
