The gay community has many anthems…
“We Are Family.”
“It’s Raining Men.”
The dance remix of the “Theme from The Golden Girls.”
But there’s always room for one more. And the brand-new single from Sara Bareilles is going to rise quickly to the top of that list. Titled, “Brave,” and described as a civil rights anthem, it’s a song with an incredibly positive message that she says was inspired in part by a close friend struggling with coming out.
Co-written by Jack Antonoff of fun., the lyrics encourage people to transition from being outcasts to bravely speaking up and saying what they want to say, becoming something altogether amazing because they’re true to themselves.
Pretty powerful stuff.
With a beat you can dance to.
“Brave” is the first single off of Sara’s highly anticipated third studio album, The Blessed Unrest, which is set for release on July 16th through Epic Records.
