Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Nice Move

2:36 a.m. Panic Attack: You awaken in a cold sweat, nearly ruining those 1300-thread-count sheets. You’ve got your business partner’s son’s Big Gay Bar Mitzvah that afternoon, followed by a divorce party for your best girlfriend and a midnight hot-tub-warming party hosted by your pervy neighbor.

And you don’t have a gift for any of them.

Fear not, for decades there’s been one go-to shop for thoughtful, creative and stunning gifts. But don’t go looking for NUVO in its old spot on Cedar Springs Road because they’ve got some fancy new digs over on Oak Lawn Avenue.

There, Jeff Wright and Jon Bonsignore (above) have created a warm and inviting space that feels completely different from the original, yet just familiar enough to feel like walking into the home of an old friend.

They still maintain one of the most superbly curated collections of greeting cards in the city, but also have incredible gift options from designers including Frank Lloyd Wright, Charles Eames, Michael Graves and Marcel Wanders. They’re also the only boutique in the U.S. with a complete collection of Acme Studio pens and card cases, a line we ADORE.

Products for pampering pets and people are also carefully selected, along with watches, barware and an excellent assortment of stunning photo frames. Plus, their well-educated staff can always help point you toward fabulousness for any occasion.

The new location has plenty of parking, too, even though it may appear otherwise. If you can’t find a space up front, there’s a large lot in back with dedicated spaces, as well as a friendly valet. Best of all, if you have to use valet, NUVO covers the cost of parking and the gratuity.

We wonder if they’ll follow us to dinner.
