Normally, when writing a story about a bowling alley, we’d probably make all sorts of comments about sticking our fingers in holes that other people have already stuck their fingers in and how much that reminds us of our ex-boyfriend, but we’re not gonna go there.
Because Bowl & Barrel is all sorts of fancy.
And even though the boutique bowling alley is quite literally filled with gutters doesn’t mean our mind has to go there, too. Instead, we prefer to focus on all the stuff we can cram into our mouths during their fab Happy Hour.
For just three bucks Monday through Friday from 3:00-7:00 p.m., feast on one of their signature house-baked pretzels. Trust us, these monsters are a meal all on their own. Wash it down with your choice of a half-liter of draft beer, barreled wine by the glass, and any of four craft cocktails (Dark & Stormy, Tom Collins, Margarita and Old Fashioned). All just $3, too.
That means if you follow our lead, you can eat a pretzel and get one one of each boozy beverage and only shell out $21.
Then you’ll have plenty of extra cash to spend on the main event: ball hurling.
Bowl & Barrel’s new lower prices mean you can rent lanes for $30 an hour Sunday to Thursday or $50 an hour Friday and Saturday, as many games as you can cram in. Parties of four or more can even now reserve a lane in advance for a specific time. (That’s like Downton Abbey fancy!)
Just don’t laugh if you see us there. A perfect bowling score is 300. On our last visit, we bowled a solid 69.
Perhaps the only time that number hasn’t made us smile.
