Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Smoochy, Smoochy

Not sure about you, but we’d far prefer to have a passionate make-out session with Spider-MAN, but that doesn’t make us any less excited to see what Uptown Players does with the Tony Award-winning Kiss of the Spider Woman when it opens this Friday.

The gritty tale of persecution, poisoning, deception and elaborately detailed fantasies shared by a pair of prison cellmates may not have been the obvious choice for a musical interpretation, but the Terrence McNally book and music by John Kander and Fred Ebb is simply stunning. And disarmingly moving.

Coming to life under the always insightful direction of Bruce R. Coleman at the Kalita Humphreys Theater, this is one night of performance that will most assuredly leave you spellbound.

And more than a wee bit terrified of ever going to prison.
