Pizza Premiere In Plano

Fast-casual is in the eye of the beholder. If you live in the neighborhood, the description works. If you have to drive 45 minutes to get there, not so much.

But that’s exactly what we did to bring you the scoop on the vast menu at the brand-new concept, Uno Dué Go, a counter-service eatery from the Uno Chicago Grill folks, makers of internationally famous deep-dish pizza.

We like the concept a lot.

In one section, a stone oven where you can order up freshly baked thin-crust or those aforementioned towering slabs of pizza goodness. Another area features grilled-to-order panini. Next to that, a smiling salad creator ready to toss and chop your choice of an abundance of veggie and protein options.

There are also grab-and-go options if you can’t wait the five or 10 minutes for the custom selections. (You, sir, are impatient.)

Of everything we tried, we were most impressed with the Harvest Vegetable Pizza (above). Topped with salsa, roasted tomatoes, fresh basil, olive oil, peppers, spinach, broccoli, caramelized onions, cheddar and mozzarella, a hearty-yet-crispy seven-grain crust comes to life with fresh flavors. Prosciutto, fig and cheddar panini also got our tastebuds in a frenzy.

Our favorite aspect of Uno Dué Go, however, is simply the ability to customize nearly anything on the menu.

Because we’re some seriously picky bitches.
