Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

New Chips On The Block

We’d eat Mexican every day if we could.

It’s just that sometimes our Latino boyfriend has a headache.

But Tex-Mex is also frequently on our mind. So we’re excited that there’s a brand new place in the gayborhood with a cool vibe, killer salsas and a lively soundtrack that’s filled with Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and all kinds of songs we love to seduce a chimichanga to.

Say hola to Campuzano Mexican Food.

The space is much bigger than it appears on drive-by and has a coziness about it that’s immediately welcoming. We especially love the focal wall that’s made up of a Tetris-worthy configuration of doors. Plus, at every electrical outlet along the banquettes you’ll find a cluster of phone chargers, which is just pure genius.

All the usual suspects are on the menu, from fajita quesadillas and shrimp nachos to carne asada and flautas.

What we like most (because we crave variety) is the ability to customize our combination plates. Rather than searching fruitlessly through three dozen pre-set combos, none of which capture exactly what we desire, simply choose a plate of one, two or three items served with rice and beans. Choices include crispy beef tacos, bean chalupas, puffy tacos and cheese, spinach or chicken enchiladas, which can each be topped with any sauce you want.

At lunch, those combination plates are discounted $2.

Bienvenidos to the neighborhood, Campuzano. We’re glad you’re here.
