Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

One Lord A-Leaping

dal-09_08_13

Which song could make Lady Mary Crawley stop being such a bitch for four minutes? What little ditty might Thomas Barrow chain smoke to while dreaming of other men? And is there one specific tune that Violet, Dowager Countess of Grantham might have raucous on-top-of-the-sheets sex to in a servant’s bedroom?

If none of the names above ring a bell, we’re sorry. For the rest of you, though, they’re a clue to a dandy evening of entertainment headed to the Meyerson tomorrow night as the Dallas Wind Symphony presents The Music of Downton Abbey, a concert inspired by early twentieth century British music.

From Overture to “The Wasps” by Ralph Vaughn Williams and “Molly on the Shore” by Percy Grainger to Gustav Holt’sJupiter” from “The Planets” and Kenneth Alford’s “Voice of the Guns,” there’s a vast array of period music that will stir every last emotion within.

And make us long for Season 4 oh so desperately.
