Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Praize Jezuz

The Gospel according to Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham. It’s a tale as old as time.

Or at least 2005 when Altar Boyz debuted its twisted, religion-skewering Off-Broadway take on boy bands. And it still holds up marvelously, a notable feat marked by its top-ten status in longest running Off-Broadway musicals of all time.

This weekend, Altar Boyz comes to Theatre Arlington as the 41st season opener. The cast — Matt Purvis (Matthew), Phillip Cole White (Mark) and Dalton Hutto (Luke), Angel Velasco (Juan) and Tim McCarthy (Abe) — are as adorable as the songs and the accompanying cheesy choreography.

If you’ve never seen the show, it’s a must for every gay person on the planet, as well as each of their open-minded friends and family members.

You’ll laugh. You’ll sing. You’ll genuflect in rhythm.
