Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Amber Alert

We often take inspiration from book titles that encourage us to experience new things.

So to that end, we’ve killed mockingbirds, caught rye and dicked some guy named Moby. But today’s Gay List Daily Book Club Selection gets even more to the point: “Drink More Whiskey.”

Don’t mind if we do.

For whiskey drinkers of all experience levels, the book offers up an entertaining, easy-to-read history of the amber-hued beverage, also known as white dog, scotch, bourbon and rye, depending on region and other factors important to each designation. Plus, it’s got barrels and barrels of interesting facts and tips for understanding the spirit and how to best enjoy it.

It took years of drinking fruity cocktails and white zinfandel before we graduated to whiskey on the rocks, but once we acquired the taste and passion for the liquid gold, it was hard to believe we ever lived without it.

“Drink More Whiskey” also features several classic and modern cocktail recipes for creating drinks that even non-whiskey drinkers will love.

So grab a copy and a bottle of The Macallan 15 year old (our personal fave) and get to reading. If you make it a drinking game and take a sip every time you read the word whiskey, we promise it’ll be the most fun literary experience of your life.

Just make sure you’re at home for this task. Because old librarians hate when people puke in their card catalog.
