Brown Is Back

Give us three ships, a funny hat, a telescope and call us Christopher Columbus. We love the thrill of discovering something new so much, it’s the favorite part of our job (besides our basement full of chained-up underwear models).

Way back in 2010 when we still had a fully functioning government, a CD came across our desk that changed our lives. It was called Travelling Like the Light from artist V V Brown. It is now one of our favorite albums of all time and if it weren’t in digital format on our iPod, we’re pretty sure it would be worn out. Last year, we even got to interview the lovely singer and we officially became obsessed.

Her new album, Samson & Delilah comes out today and from the moment we hit play on the first track, we got that rush of discovering something new. Because she’s developed a completely new sound that’s edgier, darker and deeper than the pop-filled opus that gave us “Shark in the Water” and “L.O.V.E.”.

As singer, songwriter, producer and owner of the record label, she’s definitely in control and it shows over the course of these epic 11 tracks. Her voice is borderline operatic and conjures up lusciously deep notes that will send shivers down your back.

And fill your soul with love.
