With the exception of Paula Deen and Sandra Lee, TV food networks don’t have nearly enough drag queens.
But that all changed this past weekend when Drag My Dinner Party debuted on the Cooking Channel. We were so busy working on our own drag outfit for Halloween that we forgot to alert you to set your DVRs for this incredibly fun and hilarious new show.
Don’t worry. It’s airs again this week (tonight at 10:00 p.m. Saturday at 7:30 p.m.), so you can marvel at Jujubee (Queen of Food), Raven (Queen of Fashion) and Manila Luzon (Queen of Fabulosity) as they help a helpless straight boy throw a memorable and romantic dinner party with a Peruvian theme.
Not only do they offer the guy tips on a variety of subjects Queer Eye-style, they make sure the commentary is quick-witted and free-flowing. Just like the Pisco Sours they create for the menu.
Until this show raised the bar, we always thought we threw great dinner parties. Perhaps we need to up our game with a few drag queens of our own.
Although the increase in liquor budget may mean we can only afford one.
