Rum, Rudolph, Rum!


Santa’s ready for a change. At least that’s what he indicated in a note he left us last year.

Dear Ho Ho Homo,

For the 13th time in a row, I must urge you to stop leaving me milk and cookies. I’m lactose intolerant, first and foremost. But more importantly, this is such a stressful night that I’d really like to catch a buzz before hitting the southern hemisphere. Please keep that in mind next year and there will be something extra special in your stocking.

Duly noted, Mr. Claus. But we couldn’t live with ourselves if we just left him some ordinary cocktail. So this year, we’re mixing up a cocktail made from new-to-the-U.S. Plantation Original Dark Rum, a blend of Trinidad brown rums matured in young bourbon casks.

It’s one of those great rums that’s sippable straight up or on the rocks, but they sent us a recipe for a Spiced Pineapple Daiquiri that is absolutely perfect for this time of year. It’s got a tropical edge that makes us yearn for spring, but with warm holidays spices, it still fits the current season.

We know the jolly old fat man will love this when he shimmies down our chimney.

In fact, if he doesn’t make it to your house, you can blame us. Pretty sure he’ll want a second round.

Plantation Original Dark Rum (80 proof), $17.99, 750ml

Spiced Pineapple Daiquiri

1 oz. Plantation Original Dark Rum
1 oz. Plantation 3 Star White Rum
1 oz. Spiced Pineapple Syrup (pineapple juice, bitter orange peel, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar)
.5 oz. lime juice
Grated nutmeg finish

Shake ingredients and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
