Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Carols & Croons

Whenever we hear Frank Sinatra’s “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm” on the radio, it suddenly feels like Christmas. There’s something about his voice combined with nostalgia for a more innocent era that just warms our soul.

Luckily, we’ve got the next-best thing to Sinatra right here in Dallas. His name is Ricki Derek, and actually he’s even better than Ol’ Blue Eyes himself. Because he’s alive!

Ricki is a wildly talented singer and he’s returning this year to The Lakewood Theater to perform his live holiday musical extravaganza, A Merry Little Christmas Show. There’s a kid-friendly version in late afternoon and a martini-soaked adult show that evening.

The show combines the feel of ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s-style television specials on a stage set to look like Ricki’s living room, complete with a tree, fireplace, and room for a full big-band orchestra. (Just like our bedroom!)

It’s one of our favorite shows of the year, but if you can’t make it, you can still get in the Ricki Derek style of holiday cheer with his Here’s to Christmas CD, ready for instant download.

It doesn’t get much holly jollier than this, so get your tickets (and your CD) now.

Then shake up a dirty martini or two. Because while others are getting in the holiday spirit, we prefer to get into the holiday spirits.
