Homesteady As She Goes

Leading experts agree: When the Zombie Apocalypse goes down, the most important skills to possess will be expert marksmanship, morse code and the ability to make homemade mozzarella.

Fortunately, you can learn at least one of those skills (plus four more) with the Urban Homesteading Series from White Rock Local Market and Gecko Hardware.

Starting this Saturday and running through February, you can learn to make three types of cheese, roast your own coffee beans, pickle vegetables and make preserves, vermicompost (that’s composting with worms, y’all), and garden in small spaces.

Courses range from $20 to $50, a small price to finally be able to break out that hot farmer outfit you’ve been saving up for just such an occasion.

Because word has it that zombies are also scared of kerchiefs and plaid.
