Remember two months ago when everybody was all hot and bothered about resolutions? Seems like it’s been years since we pledged on our personal trainer’s life to eat healthier.
But here we are, the end of February and somehow our empty resolutions have turned into an actual lifestyle change. Hilarious, right? We drink slow-pressed juices every day, exercise for at least an hour, and eat at True Food Kitchen as frequently as possible.
Because they’ve proven that good-for-you food can actually taste good, too.
Our go-to dish is actually surprisingly simple: the hearty shaved turkey pita sandwich. Loaded with unprocessed breast meat, provolone, tomato, purple onion, grapes and a yogurt dressing, we crave this on a weekly basis. Get it with a side of half sweet potato hash, half kale salad and you’ll be satisfied for hours.
Feeling vegetarian? The innovative “inside out” quinoa burger (above) exchanges the bad carbs of bread and creates “buns” from the healthy grain then loads them down with hummus, tzatziki, tomato, lettuce, red onion, avocado and feta.
Carnivores have reason to rejoice, too, with grass-fed steak tacos, chicken panang curry and turkey lasagna each deserving praise.
And lest you think we’ve gone completely Jillian Michaels, don’t worry. We can also be found camped out at a table with a flourless chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce in one hand and a ginger margarita in the other.
Because gay man cannot live on kale alone.
